Chinese Premier Li Keqiang met with visiting Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad in Beijing on Monday morning.
Li greeted Mahathir in a welcoming ceremony at the Great Hall of the People, before they headed for a closed-door meeting.
Li said that however the situation develops and changes, China's long-term adherence to its friendly policy towards Malaysia will not change. China is willing to consolidate its traditional friendship with Malaysia, promote the relationship and cooperation between the two countries, and work together to safeguard regional peace, stability, development and prosperity, he added.
Mahathir said that the Malaysian new government will continue to uphold the friendly foreign policy towards China. His visit to China is to further strengthen relations and cooperation with China, hoping the development of Malaysia-China relations would bring benefits to the two sides, he added.
They also held a joint press conference and witnessed the signing of documents marking out the fields for bilateral cooperation.
