The rationale of U.S. tariffs is very weak, and the decision conflicts with the Trump administration's other policies, said a Harvard economics professor.
Since earlier this year, the U.S. has imposed tariffs on imports from countries including China, European Union members, Canada and Mexico, which has raised concerns across the world over the tariffs' impact on global economy.
International economics professor Richard Cooper from Harvard University, who is also a former official with the U.S. government, spoke against Trump administration's tariffs on Tuesday in an interview with China Global Television Network (CGTN), saying that there's little grounds for the decision in the grand scheme of things.
