Heavy rain hit south China's Guangdong Province on Saturday and Sunday, flooding villages and forcing people to leave their homes.
Starting from Saturday afternoon, the downpour battered many cities in the province. Villages have been flooded, roads blocked and residents evacuated.
In Pingtang town of Xinyi city, the rain triggered mountain torrents, destroying houses, and disrupting traffic.
Main roads in over half of the 21 villages in the town have been flooded.
Supply of electricity and drinking water has been cut in Pingtang, and local residents have to rely on a spring in the mountain for drinking water.
Most residents were evacuated before the rain. However, some residents chose to stay in their homes despite the danger and became trapped. The local government acted quickly and brought them to safe places.
Now, as the flood has abated, some residents have returned to their houses, but debris brought by the flood has created a mess. They are now busy clearing debris.
Yangjiang is one of the cities that are hardest hit by the rain. The main road leading to Yangjiang's Qingxi Village was completely flooded, making the village inaccessible. Vehicles have been warned not to take that road.
Residents in the village have all been evacuated. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported.
